Two weeks ago we were on family holidays in Berlin and on the German Baltic coast. I had planned to book myself a few getaways, and that's how I was finally able to visit the Militärhistorisches Museum der Bundeswehr – Flugplatz Berlin-Gatow (Bundeswehr Museum of Military History – Berlin-Gatow Airfield formally known as Luftwaffenmuseum der Bundeswehr). Situated in a former Luftwaffe and Royal Air Force airfield, RAF Gatow, the museum houses some 155 aircraft, mainly of the post-war German Air Forces, from East and West and several Surface-Air Missiles and radar equipment.

The museum was really full of interesting stuff but but it is particularly sad to note that a large part of the pieces have been exhibited outdoors for a long time already. If this situation were to persist, it is obvious that part of the collections will be lost forever.
