Chieftain with dozer blade (UK)

I had already approached the Chieftain tank in the past year (here), through my small collection of diecast models. Unfortunately for them, being smallish 1/76 scale, these, already "threatened" by the superb kit from Takom (which I still haven't found the time to paint 😔) will probably have to "retire" with my first 3D prints of the fantastic BAOR Kickstarter from BobMack3d. Here, a Chieftain equipped with a dozer blade normally found in the strength of one per British armoured squadron.

A very nicely sculpted model, here just with the addition of a crew from RHModel and some sculpted netting around the turret. (made 2022)

T-64A mod 1972 (USSR)

A second-gerneration Soviet main battle tank, the T-64 was introduced in service in the early 1960s. It had a number of advanced feature for the time including composite armor, a compact engine and transmission and, from the T-64A at the beginning of the 70s, a new smoothbore 125-mm gun equipped with an autoloader which allowed the reduction of the crew to three. These features made the T-64 expensive to build and more difficult to maintain. Small spring-mounted plates fitted along the mudguards (known as the Gill skirt) covered the top of the suspension and the side of the tank. T-64 were essentially in use in the frontline tank divisions in Germany and were never issued to other Warsaw Pact armies.

The kit is from ModelCollect and give a good rendering of this early model. It is my second version of T-64 (see T-64BV here) and, as it is one of my favorite MBT, I definitively intend to do lots of other version in the future 😎 (made 2022)

Mil Mi-24 "Hind" (USSR)

Symbol of the Soviet "threat", the Mil Mi-24 attack helicopter was operated by the Soviet Air Force since 1972. A heavily armed and armoured gunship, the Mi-24 is also fast and capable of transporting 8 passengers. It became world famous due to is extensive use during the Soviet-Afghan war. At the end of 1990, the Soviet Army had 1,420 Mi-24s and it was also utilised by several other Warsaw Pact armies.

The models from Easy Models mounted and painted kits and was only slightly repainted. (made 2015)
