In order to support the deployment of 334 Leopard 1BE between 1968 and 1971, the Belgian army acquired in 1969 36 Bergepanzer 2 Standards alongside 6 Pionierpanzers. In 2002, after more than 30 years of service, 18 survivors were modernized to the Bergepanzer 2000 standard.

The model is a conversion kit from The Hobby Den on the base of the Revell Leopard 1A5. This conversion, although a little simple, has the merit of existing, and with a little work it does the job fairly well. (made 2020)
